Regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell contractile state is critical for the maintenance of
blood vessel tone. Abnormal vascular smooth muscle cell contractility plays an important
role in the pathogenesis of hypertension, blood vessel spasm, and atherosclerosis. Myosin
phosphatase, the key enzyme controlling myosin light chain dephosphorylation, regulates
