Attempts over many years to implant various dairy strains of Lactobacillus into the human
intestine have proved unsuccessful. Researchers concluded that the Lactobacillus strains
traditionally used in the dairy industry, which included L casei, L bulgaricus, and L
acidophilus, did not possess the biologic characteristics necessary to enable them to implant
