Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors (statins) are in
widespread use due to their LDL reducing properties and concomitant improvement of
clinical outcome in patients with and without preexisting atherosclerosis. Considerable
